Examiner Lacy Pittman

Lacy Pittman spent 30 years in Law Enforcement. Pittman began his career with the Lumberton Police Department in July, 1979. He spent 8 years as a uniformed police officer with Lumberton, St Pauls and Fayetteville Police Departments in North Carolina. January, 1987 he began a 22 year career with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
After completing the 18th SBI Academy, Pittman was assigned to the SBI Capital District Office as an Arson Agent. The primary assignment was to determine origin and cause of fires within the Capital District and conduct follow up investigations where needed. Also, during this period of time Pittman was responsible for processing crime scenes mostly involving homicides. From 1987 to 2002 Pittman conducted criminal and drug investigations. While conducting drug investigations Pittman purchased drugs in an undercover capacity. He also participated in undercover involving murders for hire. From 2000 to 2002 Pittman was assigned to the FBI Violent Fugitive Task Force in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 2002 Pittman successfully completed an eight week course at the Virginia School of Polygraph, an APA (American Polygraph Association) approved school. Upon his return to work, he was the polygraph examiner for the SBI Capital District in Raleigh, conducting polygraphs for Law Enforcement Agencies within the SBI Capital District. Pittman conducted all types of polygraphs including homicide, rape, robbery, embezzlement, larceny, sexual abuse and police misconduct. He also conducted pre-employment polygraphs for the SBI and Company Police applicants within the Capital District.
In December, 2005 Pittman transferred to the SBI Training Section in Raleigh and was involved in training new Agents and conducting specialized training classes within the SBI. In February, 2006 Pittman was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge within the SBI Training Section. He retired from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation on September 01, 2009.
After retiring, Pittman started Pittman and Associates Polygraph and Investigative Services, with a primary focus on conducting polygraph examinations. Including the time with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, Pittman has been conducting polygraphs for over twenty-three years.
